Year 12s Connect With Israel

On Tuesday 9th July, Immanuel College, in conjunction with UJIA, held its annual 'Israel- Get Connected Day' for Year 12 students. This included round-robin sessions featuring Sigalit Freedman, Dr Roy Graham and Edwin Shuka, whose topics included Israeli culture, the political landscape and the persecution of Jews in Iraq. Students were then privileged to hear from the Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mark Regev, who answered questions about his role as a diplomat and his vision for Israeli relations with other countries. Following this, Year 12 student Joel Fenton chaired a debate between Rabbi Shaw (Mizrachi), Jake Goldman (New Israel Fund) and Professor David Stone (StandWithUs), during which the debaters discussed their future visions for Israel, as well as their thoughts on a two-State solution. The morning was an insightful one and allowed students to hear a wide range of opinions and ideas.
