Immanuel Teachers travel to Israel with StandWithUs

Some of our Immanuel College teachers recently travelled to Israel with StandWithUs UK as part of a specially designed programme titled ‘Bridges of Understanding’.

Bridges of Understanding is part of a wider vision: building a growing community of British educators who have encountered Israel first-hand and who feel confident facilitating credible, thoughtful education across the UK.

The teachers spent time in a school in Tel Aviv where Jewish and Arab students learn together, met with Israeli educators and visited the Kibbutzim on the Gaza Border that were attacked on October 7th.

For some, the visit clarified deeply held convictions. As Mr Rankin put it:
“I would hold my head up and unequivocally call myself a Zionist in the sense of there being a need and right for Israel to exist. And I would happily defend that position.”
