Musician-in-Residence
Immanuel College seeks to appoint a recent graduate in Music to be the Musician-in-Residence from 4th October 2010 until 13th July 2011. An enthusiasm for Jewish music (e.g. klezmer, contemporary religious, folk) would be an advantage, as would an interest in vocal and choral music-making and composition. Good keyboard skills are essential.
Aims
To develop instrumental and choral work throughout the school, particularly focusing on Years 7-11, developing vocal and choral skills in music lessons and generating enthusiasm for extra-curricular choral work, working closely with the Director of Music and singing teachers.
To strengthen the work of the school choir and/or vocal groups, choosing suitable repertoire and developing pupils’ ensemble and vocal skills.
To work with a group of gifted musicians to create a composition or compositions that can be performed by college musicians, ensembles or choir.
To promote outreach work, working with the music teachers to take musical ensembles into the community (hospitals, hospices, shopping centres, old-age homes, junior schools, etc.)
To coach examination candidates in appropriate areas of study, including performance and composition. To play a full and enthusiastic part in promoting music-making throughout the college, for instance at assemblies, and to play a full role in organising and performing in school concerts and plays.
