Fun In The Sun At Community Fun Run
On 23rd May, a beautiful sunny Sunday, 2000 people turned up to the Community Fun Run at Haberdashers’ Aske’s School. The aim of the day was to engender community spirit whilst also raising money for a number of worthwhile Jewish causes. Immanuel College decided to participate in the guise of Team Immanuel. Approximately 60 pupils, staff and parents attended the event and we were certainly a presence, sporting stickers, waving flags and cheering on our runners. We chose either to run or walk 5 kilometres or 10 kilometres. The atmosphere was electric, the grounds magnificent and the weather splendid!
Immanuel became the first school to attend the event with an organised team. Maccabi Great Britain, the organiser of the event, was very appreciative and expressed the hope that other schools might follow our lead in the future.
The Fun Run proved to be a great way to have fun, engender a very real spirit of community, raise money for charity and of course keep fit. Bring on next year!
