Yom Ha'atzmaut
Thursday, 12th May 2011
Immanuel College celebrated Yom Ha’Atzmaut in style on Tuesday 20th May. With students and staff dressed in blue and white, the school united to demonstrate gratitude for and appreciation of the State of Israel. The day began with a festive Tefillah, with the school joining together for Hallel following Rabbi Riffkin’s talk on the centrality and significance of the Jewish homeland. Simchah dancing, an Israeli lunch and the welcome Israeli weather helped create a really special atmosphere. Each year group had its own activity for the afternoon, including a visit to Immanuel’s version of Mini Israel, a journey back in time to the declaration of the State in 1948, a discussion of different political perspectives and talks from three leading Israel advocates.
