Year 7 Siyyum ? Celebrating Hebrew Reading Progress
Tuesday, 18th November 2008
This week, a small group of year seven boys who arrived at Immanuel College in September unable to read Hebrew celebrated their progress in Hebrew reading at a siyyum with their teacher, Mrs Deborah Unsdorfer. Rabbi David Riffkin, Director of Judaism, and Rabbi Reuven Margrett from the JS department participated in their celebration.
The boys have succeeded in enhancing their Hebrew reading skills to a level where they can now start to learn Chumash. Rabbi Riffkin told the boys ?We are all proud of you. Improving your Hebrew reading so much in such a short space of time is a real achievement. Now a whole world of learning will open up to you, enabling you to understand so much more about your heritage.?
The boys celebrated by feasting on party foods and sweets. Each boy received a certificate which recorded his achievement.
