Sports Round-Up

Immanuel has gained its best set of football results by far in recent history this term. Teams in Years 7 to 11 have played 22 matches, winning 9, losing 9 and drawing 4. The Year 10 boys? football XI won all but its final fixture, when a narrow defeat denied them the championship of the first division of the district schools? league. David Smouha, the captain, played outstandingly throughout the season and his team supported him consistently. Jack Reece has been the lynchpin in the progress of the Year 7 football team to successive victories, and Zachary Collins has captained a hard-working and spirited Year 8 XI, whose success includes defeating Parmiter?s School by 7 goals to 3.
Girls? football has seen a surge of popularity this term. Emily Balsam, Scarlett Wilder and Hannah Gotkine played especially well in the district five-a-side tournament in which the team was undefeated. Zoe Daniels in Year 7 and Lauren Mullen in Year 8 have made exceptionally good contributions to their year groups? netball and football teams.
The Sixth Form netball squad won the Maccabi Netball Tournament, an achievement in which Miranda Donne played a key part. The Year 7 team lost in the final of the Junior Tournament by one goal. Tamara Gertner, Evie Miller, Rachel Winton and Shira Abkin played particularly well in the Year 8 team?s very creditable performance in the District Netball Tournament.
The Year 10 boys? basketball team has won the three matches it has played and is a strong contender to win the district league. The team?s success owes much to the verve and skill of Adam Schwartz?s and Freddie Gershinson?s play.
