Proud Pam Overwhelmed by Pupils Paint Job
Wednesday, 24th February 2010
Immanuel College School Nurse, Mrs Pam Young was overwhelmed this week when she returned from the half term break to find that a group of students had devoted three days of their half term holiday to re-decorate her First Aid room.
Sixth Form students, David Gee, Shoshana Layman and Samuel Kennard, and Year 11 pupil, Nick Gee, had often heard Pam’s view that the bright yellow colour chosen for the room by her predecessor failed to create the calm atmosphere needed for unwell pupils and that she wished that it could be changed. So they bought the paint and effected the wished-for change.
David told me, “We wanted to do something extra special for Pam. She is always there for all of us – she is like a second mum. We wanted to show her in this small way how grateful we all are to her for always going the extra mile for us.”
Pam said “I am totally overwhelmed by this kind gesture. These kids are like my family. They have shown me such love through their actions and have not only given me a room with a calm, relaxing feel, but their selflessness has demonstrated what thoughtful young people they are and how much they value me.”
