Junior Prize Day
Sunday, 9th November 2008
The guest of honour at this year?s Immanuel College?s Junior Prize Giving was Mel Cook, an acclaimed actress and director.
Inspired at the age of seven to go into acting, Ms Cook has since established a successful career. She has just directed a sell-out run of William Saroyan?s The Beautiful People at the Finborough Theatre, and is currently devising a site-specific work which will open next week at The Tabernacle, W11.
She delighted the pupils by answering their many questions. She told them that they would never be rich with money from a career in theatre, but that their lives would be enriched by the wonderful, interesting and genuine people that you would meet. ?The passion and drive to be an actor will compensate for the insecurity of the industry ? you have to love it to want to do it.?
Amongst the junior prize winners for 2007-8 was Bethany Schneiderman, who won the Bar Ilan Trophy for Jewish Studies. 16 awards were made to pupils across the year groups for their outstanding contribution to the Immannuel College Sponsored Walk in aid of One Family.
