Immanuel Students Perform to World-Renowned Musician at School Festival
Thursday, 27th March 2008
Immanuel College was alive with the sound of music last week as over sixty students took part in a music festival celebrating the talents of the College?s musicians.
The competition, which sees students compete in categories including piano, guitar, singing, strings, brass and composition aims to provide opportunities for students to improve their practical musicianship.
The winner of each sub-category, as chosen by guest adjudicator and internationally acclaimed concert pianist, Nelly Ben-Or, performed in a concert at the College on Thursday, 27th March.
Professor Nelly Ben-Or commented: ?I think it is a wonderful thing that the school promotes so many aspects of music making, - not just Classical music, but also popular music, - and includes a variety of instruments and composition in the Festival.?
Philip Skelker, Headmaster of Immanuel College commented: ?The Immanuel College Music Festival provides opportunities for our young musicians to perform in front of an audience and to receive feedback on their musicianship from an expert adjudicator. We are particularly privileged to have Nelly Ben-Or as our special guest. Professor Ben-Or will share her knowledge and experience with our students and in this way help them to develop their musical abilities.?
