First Girl’s Singing Concert

Seven acts entertained an audience of over 70 girls and female members of staff at Immanuel College’s first girls’ singing concert.  Ellen Johnson 9BEJ/SP, Shira Abkin 9BEJ/SP and Olivia Chody 9JMG sang a rendition of A Thousand Miles (Vanessa Carlton), whilst Jessica Marcus 9JMG sang Somewhere from the musical West Side Story (Leonard Bernstein).

Georgia Katz 7CS, gave a beautiful performance of Part of My World from the Disney film, The Little Mermaid and On My Own from Les Misérables was performed by both Tania Pears 7CS and Anoushka Alexander-Rose 8EC.  Ellen Johnson also gave a solo performance of I’m not a Girl, Not yet a Woman (Britney Spears) and the event closed with a wonderful performance of There is a Castle on a Cloud from Les Misérables by Olivia Zabludowicz 7LSW.

Singing Teachers, Kirsta Johnston and Samantha Dehanne and Director of Music, Nicholas Garman said that they were “absolutely thrilled with the girls’ performances” and hoped that this would encourage more girls’ to take part in future concerts.

The next opportunity for the girls to perform will be at the Girls’ Assembly on 9th March.
