Election Fever Hits Immanuel College

Thursday, 6th May 2010

Immanuel College students joined in election excitement today, when the school held its own mock general election. Candidates, representing the three main parties (Daniel Zeff for Conservative, Mossy Wittenberg for Liberal Democrats and Max Levy for Labour) have spent the past few weeks campaigning around the campus, displaying advertisements, distributing flyers and talking to the student voters to let them know about their parties’ policies. This week, they have had the opportunity to present these policies in formal assemblies, answering questions from students on support for Israel, unemployment and green policies.

Pupils had the opportunity to vote is secret ballots during the course of morning registration and at break time, with the votes already counted, the results were revealed to the student body. The result of the Immanuel College vote was:

Labour – 16%
Conservatives – 67%
Liberal Democrats – 17%
