Chanukah Concert

Tuesday, 16th December 2008

This year?s Chanukah Concert was memorable for its diversity and quality. Leonard Cohen?s ?Hallelujah? rubbed shoulders with Thomas Morley?s ?Now is the month of Maying?, and ACDC?s ?Highway to Hell? with Vivaldi?s Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor. Among the many accomplished performances of the evening were Omer Shneider?s ?Un Sospiro? (Liszt), Daniel Turek?s ?Aria?, (Bozza), Joshua Koslover?s ?Souvenir de Sarasate? (William Potstock), Joel Fisher?s ?Something?s Comin?? (Bernstein), Raz Benson?s ?Maple Leaf Rag? (Joplin), Aryeh Dworkin?s ?Sicilienne? (M.Y. von Paradis) and the choir?s medley from ?Les Misérables.? The performances of Daniela Beach, Yaron Bernstein, Anna Schapiro, Eli Baigel and Yoel Gordon from Years 7 and 8 showed that there is no shortage of musical talent in the lower years of the school. The bravura percussion solos of Alexander Rowe, Jonatan Benarroch, Miles Markham, Daniel Sonn, Max Fisher and Benjamin Assor added excitement to a most enjoyable evening.
