Immanuel students Shoshana Layman, Shani Joel, David Gee, Gabriel Loftus, Emily Ross, Joanna Tamman, Zoe Budwig, Nicole Dousie and Natalie Basrawy, were amongst the highest achieving students in GCSE Art and Design according to Edexcel, the UK?s largest awarding body.

The nine students sat the GCSE Art and Design examination earlier this summer at Immanuel College in Bushey and the results, issued this month, show that out of 36,294 candidates, each of these students achieved one of the highest overall marks.

Jerry Jarvis, Edexcel?s Managing Director, said: ?This is a tremendous achievement and testament to the hard work students put into preparing for their exams. We send our congratulations to all of these candidates.?

Alison Ardeman, Head of Art at the school said ?this is an outstanding achievement for our pupils. Normally, we would be proud if ONE of our pupils had been named as one of the highest achievers, but to have NINE of our pupils achieving the highest marks, is something quite special: they are a credit to their teacher, Miss Susan Ribeiro whose hard work and commitment to her students has been well rewarded.?

Miss Ribeiro, who taught the pupils GCSE Art comments, ?When pupils inspire a teacher great things happen. I am extremely proud of you all and of how highly you have achieved.?

Head Master, Philip Skelker commented ?Pupils? talent and creativity, together with expert teaching have resulted in an outstanding achievement in which we all take great pride.?
